Stars, stories, and clay pots at Harvest Learning Center

DSC00069 DSC00059Harvest Learning, a family child care center in Chapel Hill hosts an annual art show featuring the creations of the center’s 2 – 5 year olds. In November, director Lynette Mitchell requested Allison Davidson from the Durham Arts Council to guide children in art making. This year’s theme – Stars! Allison began each visit with stories of stars, dragons, and Gaia the Greek Goddess of Mother Earth. Children created beautiful clay pots that they painted with an array of colors. They also created glittery stars that were given as gifts to seniors in a nearby nursing home.
