BUMP: The Triangle

Bump+logo+jpegBUMP is a music education organization working to bump up the life success of urban youth. It was founded by Dr. Georgiary Bledsoe, who is a Visiting Scholar at Duke and an award-winning ethnomusicologist. Echoing Green chose BUMP as a 2014 semi-finalist for the Black Male Achievement Fellowship. We seek to foster youths’ educational empowerment through the music of Africa and the African Diaspora, where the seeds of African music have taken root all over the world. Our programs help children grow musically while building a deeper understanding of the history and culture behind the music. Resilience training is built into every class. Our workshops have been described as a “wonderful and meaningful experience” that is “entertaining, educational and enriching, which is a rare combination.” www.bumpthetriangle.org  BOOK BUMP The Triangle
