Joel SugarmanMusician and bass player for 47 years, and play primarily Blues based music in a number of local bands. For the past 3 years I’ve been an M.C. and host for weekly jams in the area. Current Education Chairman of Triangle Blues Society. I’ve raise a son, 18 and daughter 20, and both are musicians. I’ve worked with a number of young emerging artists, to help them develop and grow and musicians, performers and entertainers. Teaching music to our youth so that the music carries on, is my goal. Blues in the Schools

Program is designed to teach and gain an appreciation for the blues music genre. Various or specific styles, such as Piedmont, Chicago or Delta Blues are covered, and students are encouraged to participate with singing, instruments or dance. An appreciation and understanding of the origins of American Blues and Roots music is taught through both spoken word and with songs. Sing along, call and response, and other active participation by students and teachers is encouraged.

Special Requirements (Space, Tech, Volunteer): Sound and lights provided by the musicians.
