Dance career began at age nine with the children’s troupe “Peru Negrito.” 1983 became professional percussionist in Ballet PerĂº Negro. 2003-2013 Resident artist with CTMD Center for the Traditional Music and Dance NY, performances included UN, Lincoln Center and Library of Congress, 2004-2013 Artistic director of Pachamama Peruvian Arts, 2007-2015 After school programs, Bronx NY public schools, Currently music/dance teacher at Casa Esperanza Montessori and Spanish for Fun in Raleigh and The Arts Center Carrboro. Residency
Afro-Peruvian Percussion and/or Dance Instruction

45 minute dance or percussion lessons. Each dance class has rhythmic warm up exercises followed by choreographed steps of one traditional dance called Festejo. Percussion goals are to learn one new traditional rhythm per class. Residency Lesson Plan

Duration: Minimum 2-10 days needed for residency with each class/group, 60-minutes.

Fee: $75.00 per class/hr.

Performance
Afro-Peruvian Interactive Music and Dance

Demonstrations of traditional dances and sounds of percussion instruments, interspersed with historical explanations of slave origins of the music. This workshop has a balance of performance, teaching and audience participation. Performance Lesson Plan

Max Participants: Show can adapt to a small class or entire student body

Duration: 45-60 minutes.

Special Requirements:
Preferred at least 10×10 feet minimum space to perform. Sound system needed. Microphone and stand needed only if in auditorium. No set up required.
