Award winning multi-disciplinary teaching artist and film maker Usha Raj, recipient of DAC Emerging Artist Grant Award and Kathryn Wallace Foundation Community Award shares over two decades the faith, culture, traditions of India. Storyteller, puppet maker and visual artist Usha showcases her passion and creativity nationally and internationally. She served as Duke University’s first Hindu Chaplain and represented as national spokesperson at the Whitehouse. Usha produced the highly acclaimed PBS documentary film titled “Remarkable journey”. Dining with History: Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. King

Hear Dr.King’s role model Mahatma Gandhi’s life story through thought provoking anecdotes, film clips, discussion followed by questions. The Show followed by a small group experiential workshop for an entire grade-level is truly beneficial enhancing the best educational experience with plenty of opportunity for questions and personalized learning.

Learn the ancient traditional system of Yoga originating in India, the roots to well being. Practice mind/body techniques, sound healing/ movement accompanied by stories to music and more. A completely relaxing, stress-relieving hour for body and spirit!

Workshop
Faith traditions of India and ancient mindfulness practices

Experience first hand the faiths traditions of India through in-depth understanding of eastern mindfulness practices /way of life approach via film, interactive discussion and personal engagement. Learn stress relieving techniques, mind/ body connections in Hinduism, Buddhism & more.

Max Participants: 25

Duration: 60 mins to 90 mins (flexible)

Special Requirements: A large area preferably carpeted with possibility of showing a film, free space to have a demo, good sound systems, microphones, volunteers to help with unloading, loading and pack-up.
