Dasan Ahanu

Dasan Ahanu is a award winning public speaker, community organizer, educator, poet, performance artist, writer, and emcee born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. He has performed across the country, appeared on national radio and TV, published three books of poetry, been featured in various periodicals and released numerous recordings. Page and Stage: Poetry and Spokenword

Selected activities prepared provide participants with an understanding of poetry and spoken word and gives them a set of tools to use in crafting and sharing their thoughts, ideas, and experiences with any audience individually and collectively. Performance
Speak Poet!: Self, Place, and Identity

How you bring your words to life on stage is about how prepared you are to deliver them. This spoken word performance showcases and discusses technique, individual voice, and presence while addressing issues of self, place, and identity. Performance Lesson Plan

Workshop
The Art of US: Poetry, Spoken Word, and Expression

Spoken Word is the art of performance poetry. This workshop examines how to put your thoughts and ideas down on paper and how to make them come alive in delivery through writing prompts, peer review, and performance activities. Workshop Lesson Plan
