Forgotten Clefs promotes early music through performance, research, and outreach. The ensemble is heard regularly at the North Carolina HIP Festival and Bloomington Early Music Festival. Our educational outreach program has gained national recognition, receiving an Engagement Award from Early Music America in 2018. An introduction to Renaissance music. Musicians discuss their instruments, talk about music in the Renaissance, and perform short pieces. There is some context given about the history surrounding the music and instruments in fifteenth- through seventeenth-century Europe. Audience participation element. 30-45 minutes, depending on age group.
