Carrie WagnerPhotographer and author Carrie Wagner has 20 years of international experience, facilitating learning in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe and North America. Carrie has a B.S. in Environmental and Visual Design from NC State University. She spent 12 years with Habitat for Humanity International, working as an international trainer and as International Training Director. Carrie is a creative professional and teaching artist in photography, digital storytelling, global engagement, and cultural competency. Carrie is a Teaching Fellow for North Carolina A+ Schools, and an outreach specialist for UNC World View. REQUEST CARRIE WAGNER

Residency
Community Story Portrait; Sharing our Digital Stories

Students will learn about culture in the context of their own lives, as well as others who come from different backgrounds. This visual arts residency will take learners on a journey of:
1) Finding our Stories
2) Composing our Stories
3) Crossing Cultures through Story
4) Creating our Community Story Portrait
5) Sharing our Stories online.

Through communication, collaboration, creativity, and media technology skills, students will co-create a digital story and share their story on appropriate global networks. Visual arts, ELA, Social Studies and Media Technology Standards are met.

Duration: Three, 90 min. classes per day, or Four, 60 min. classes

Maximum Participants: 25

Residency
World View Montage

Students will learn how their own cultural filters affect how they see and interpret visual imagery throughout the world. They will utilize photo analysis skills and critical thinking skills by comparing and contrasting cultural features, values and perspectives. Students will create a visual arts piece (World View Montage) that represents who they are and how they see the world. 4 classes max, per day.
