Malaika Pettigrew

Malaika Pettigrew a Life Coach, Energy Healer and Dance Movement Instructor. She studied, taught and performed diverse dance styles of West Africa, Cuba, Latin America and Brazil. With 25 years’ experience leading groups, facilitating retreats, teaching leadership skills, counseling, coaching and healing. She has traveled the world that inform her teaching approach. An MA in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology she taught at the University of Colorado, Boulder and Naropa University for 11 years. Founded the Institute for African American Leadership in Boulder, Colorado and served in leadership positions with organizations serving under resourced families, battered women, social change activism and youth. I Am The Best That I Can Be

As educator, dancer, parent, I will teach and nurture a group of elementary/middle school aged children through the mediums of music, dance, storytelling and mindfulness to learn:

Skills to help them take control and responsibility for their thoughts and behaviors.
-Dances for free expression of their creative selves and connect with feelings, challenges and desires.
-To love themselves, to know they are cared, supported and advocated for.
-Storytelling to share their stories and gain a sense of identity to better understand their roles and purpose.

Special Requirements: Room for dance, art activities, mindfulness exercises and written assignments. Media equipment to
show videos and play music with internet access.

Maximum Participants: 20

Minimum Days Needed For Residency: 8-12 sessions, Varies

Residency Fee: $75.00 per class/hr.
