Black Box Dance Theatre is a Raleigh-based modern dance company with expertise in making dances that are relevant and inspirational. Michelle Pearson steps in as Artistic Curator and is joined by a diverse troupe (including a hip hop artist, a ballerina, an engineer ,and an Army Veteran/ Wounded Warrior) in bringing excellent dancing to the classroom and stage. A BBDT “school show” is quite an exciting event! Students will learn the history of modern dance and how it is one of the only art forms created in America. Repertory is selected to engage different ages and audience participation happens throughout the show. From rhythm and basketball, to learning about cultural practices such as Day of the Dead, to witnessing a soldier’s story…this is non-fiction, powerful dancing that truly MOVES! Spanish/English speaking.
• Wood floor, free of splinters, debris, screws. No concrete or carpet.
• Marley dance floor covering is preferred.
• No temporary stages
• 40’ by 36’ is ideal. We can accommodate a smaller stage with notice.
• Minimum of 15’ overhead, Dressing area close to stage is required.
• Sound system with ipod hook up.”
